Stress-free moving out

Moving out of your home can be stressful. Follow these tips to make the process run a little smoother:
- Repair any damage to the home, but discuss with the letting agents first.
- Make sure you have given final readings to the utilities providers.
- Clean the house to the highest standard you can not forgetting windows, ovens, fridges skirting boards etc.
- Speak to the Royal Mail about forwarding your post to your new address.
- Leave yourself at least two days to move your things out, don't leave it until the last day.
- Wash any curtains, seat covers etc so they are clean for the next tenant - pay attention to the cleaning instructions.
- Clarify with the landlord or letting agent if they require any work to be completed to ensue your full bond return.
- Leave some time to make sure you have moved all of your belongings. Some letting agents will charge to remove personal items left behind.
- When you leave switch off the electricity and gas at the meter.
- Lock all windows and doors and return the keys to the letting agents promptly.
- Discuss any concerns you have with your letting agent, don't leave any problems.
- Remember to have any other bills redirected or stopped such as TV licences, mobile phone bills, credit card and bank statements.
